Vegetarian Tale at Half-Price Books

I came across Henrik Drescher's Hubert the Pudge, a darkly triumphant children’s book about vegetarianism from the animal’s perspective (a mythical animal, called a “pudge,” who escapes factory farming to open his own tofu-hotdog factory) while browsing Half Price Books on South Hulen yesterday. While I’m not sure I’ll be reading it to my own nightmare-prone preschoolers anytime soon, it’d make a fun and unusual gift for a grownup friend who’s recently gone vegetarian, or for older kids who are trying to settle on their dietary choices, and beginning to see how their lifestyle impacts the world around them. There are several copies at the front of the store, under $6 apiece. 16645984.JPG
