Last month I went to Fort Worth South's First Friday on the Green event, which is a free family-friendly outdoor concert held the first Friday of the month, with food (and beer) available for purchase on the premises from the delightfully veg-friendly Chadra Mezza. They offer their Mezza plate for about $6, which includes babaganouj (smoked eggplant dip), muhammara (roasted red bell pepper and walnut dip), and falafel, all served with pita. No outside coolers are allowed. This month, First Friday on the Green is scheduled for June 4, at 6 p.m., at Magnolia Green (in the 1100 block of Lipscomb between Rosedale and Magnolia). Seryn, Doug Burr, and Calhoun will provide live music (bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on), and this month's charity is Don't Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank, so bring donations of pet food or cash. It's a fun event, and it can make the meatless in Cowtown feel right at home since the food is all vegetarian, and very likely vegan. Expect to see lots of children running around, and furkids, too, since on-leash dogs are allowed.
